C&W was this past week and I missed it bc of the surgery. Would have been cool to meet with fellow Kairos folk, present with my software engineer and open source software expert spouse, and feel academically excited again. I didn't even submit to RSA, but would have LOVED to go to Oregon.
I'm in Watkins, though, so, maybe I'll see people there. And, I got a workshop and a panel in to C's 09. Maybe, maybe, maybe, my conference luck will change. I make it in, but my body hasn't cooperated this year.

I've been lurking for a while...I'm a grad student in RCL, digital media and composition.
I hope your conference luck changes! More importantly, I hope you feel well all year next year. C&W was good, although from what people tell me the dynamic was a bit different this year as some people weren't as interested in the conference theme. It was my first time.
I found your blog b/c you now teach where I adjuncted for a couple years a while ago--I actually started in academe by adjuncting at ECU and am now working on my PhD in Ohio--a bit of a reversal :o)
Assuming we both stay well maybe I'll see you at Watson!
Yah. I think, even though many of us play with technology in the classroom, the idea of using code or learning about open source code or products not "supported" by the university is daunting...so it makes it less interesting. I wish I coulda gone...it makes me sad that I missed all the cool presentations.
Lurk away. I occasionally write something interesting.
Is this your real name? I can ask my colleagues on the 3rd floor about you. I like it here so far, but being adjunct is a whole different ballgame.
Indeed it is my read name. I taught from 2002-2004... I had a good time there--total freedom to teach whatever I wanted (with the required textbook). No one ever kept track of my curriculum, etc. Certainly hasn't been that way at either of my graduate schools! I also miss the student population--I felt like I had more nontrads and first gens than I have had at the research-intensive schools.
I went to some very interesting panels at C&W, some of which just sort of took open source as a metaphor and connected it to what they wanted to talk about :o)
yah, my mentor remembered you. good luck at Ohio.
I DO love the student population and the freedom of the curriculum.
