Saturday was graduation. Our department had 11 grads and the only 4.0. My spouse made some wisecrack about it being bc it's an easy degree. ha. ha. ha. Interestingly enough, our majors have the highest ACTs in the Univ and are like 3rd in GPAs, so we just attract smart students, and I believe it's because of our relationship with our students and because we challenge and respect them. Who knows why we really retain who we retain....
I'm all done with my grading. Posted. Now, admin work to finish up. Oh, and syllabi...if I knew which classes I was teaching, that would be another story, but 2 of 4 got cancelled, so there ya go. And, NO, we profs don't do anything over xmas break.

It's so true about the professors respecting the students and therefore getting the best out of them. I definitely think that it was a major draw for me. (Not that I'm a stellar student, obviously.)
